So you’ve just made a website or had one built. Now your waiting for your results to start coming in, but… nothing. Unfortunately its not enough to just have a website built you need to be active on it and drive traffic to it. Even if you have done a lot of SEO work it can still take a while for your website to start ranking at all on Google.
How long does it normally take for a new site to appear on Google?
Long story short, there isn’t an exact answer. It can from days to weeks for Google to recognise your site. You can decrease the time it takes to start ranking by having inbound links to your website (ie having links from credible sites like BBC News or any news site). Or by increasing the people visiting your site by using social media and ads. If you have a good site and people are using it, your bounce rate will be low, the time spent on it will be high and Google will find it faster.
6 things you can do so that Google indexes your site faster.
- Submit your site to Google search console
- Try to guest post on other sites or link to other page that have already started ranking.
- Blog regularly, this can increase your views dramatically (get an average of 434% more indexed pages)
- Post your content on the relevant forums
- Install Google Analytics
Conclusion
It could take months for your site to start gaining traction but if you follow the above tips it will be a lot faster. I see a lot of people think just because they have a website it will automatically get traffic and get them more work but unfortunately, you have to put the work in to drive traffic!
