If you are running or making a competition website you might be looking to make things more interesting when a user wins an “instant win” prize.
On the thank you page, after user has purchased their tickets, they should have a message saying if they have won an instant win prize. But how can you make this more interesting? By adding a “click to reveal” or “scratch to reveal” fuctionality on this thank you page.
Click to reveal functionality on a competition site
Below is an example of one of our “click to reveal” functionalities that we built. It works with any competition website plugin as it hooks into WordPress site with a code snippet, you can also change the look using CSS.
What features does the click to reveal have?
Once a user successfully buys a ticket, they are shown this, you can click each of the tickets to reveal if they are winners or not, they can also “reveal all” and show all of them, and then “Hide All” again if they want to. In this case, the user did not win anything.
Below shows what it might look like if they did win.
Does the competition “click to reveal” work on mobile?
Yes – it works perfectly on mobile, it fits nicely and works well when tapping.
Why not “Scratch to reveal”?
We did first make a version that works when you scratch but we found it doesnt work too well on mobile. When you scratch and your finger moves away from the scratch area, the web page scrolls making the reveal area hard to use, so we changed it to “click to reveal”.
What does the backend look like?
Once you added the code to the backend of your website either by adding the code to the Functions.php or a code snippets plugins (this is the safer option). You see this checkbox on the “inventory” tab on your woocommerce product. You need to make sure you have a lottery/giveaway plugin enabled for this work.
All you need to do is enable this and it’ll work on the thank you page.
